Doc McKenzie
and the Hi-Lites
Doc McKenzie and the Hi-Lites are one of
today’s most prominent gospel artists and have been singing God's praises
for many years. The group was organized in 1965 and launched their
professional career in 1981 with Savoy Records and released their first hit
record in 1982 - “What a Wonder the Lord has Done.” Climbing higher and
higher in God, making hit records after another they endeavored to fulfill
their purpose God had predestined for them, which was to reach, spread and
proclaim that we really do serve a true and living GOD!
The professional accomplishments including being nominated for two (2)
Stellar Awards and musical compilations of Doc McKenzie and the Hi-Lites,
over 13 releases to be exact, relatively speak for it self. They are
loved by many, followed by many and they lead many to their level of Worship
and Praise every time they Grace a stage. Down through the years they
can truly say God has been good to them and they have no need to complain.
From their first hit to this present day, each recording has been a blessing
and still is blessing so many. To see some of the group's awards visit

Today the group is still traveling, singing to the Glory of God. In
the year of 2003, Doc McKenzie and the Hi-Lites regrouped together with four
talented, God-fearing men: Doc “Milbert” McKenzie, Darryl Henley, Rodney
“Roc” Bennett and Robert Holland. Together they recorded “Standing on
the Rock.” And now in 2008, Doc, Darryl, Rodney and Robert have done
it again. Eyes have not seen, nor ears have not heard but brace
yourself because Doc McKenzie and the Hi-Lites come to tell you that “The
Answer is in the Music.” Embracing a new sound, a new era but
serving the same GOD! They are stronger than ever. Their sound is
compared to none. With Bryan McKenzie as their mastermind sound technician
and band members Jason Britt, Rick Daughtridge, Chris Stephenson and William
Purvis they are sure to reach higher heights and deeper depths as they press
toward the mark of a prize of a higher calling in Christ Jesus through their
music ministry. Reaching millions one soul at a time!

Milbert “DOC” McKenzie
Is there a doctor in the house? Whenever gospel music enthusiasts hear this
question they immediately think of none other than Milbert E. “Doc”
McKenzie. Doc is one of the greatest gospel music singers of our time. Doc
McKenzie graces every stage ready to praise God in his own unique way. In
thirty-five years, he has toured thirty-three different countries and never
missed one concert throughout his music career.
Darryl Henley

Darryl Henley’s journey as a Hi-Lite began in Paterson, New Jersey, when the
group was comprised of Doc and his brothers. As a young musician (11
years old at the time), he flourished under the watchful eyes of Doc
McKenzie, and he persevered with the times. In the early 90’s when
Darryl left the group, he heeded the call to the ministry, and began to
Pastor his own church. Darryl’s return to the group in mid-2001 has
brought a powerful combination of seasoned vocal abilities, timeless guitar
style, and musical director qualifications.
Rodney Bennett

His presence as point man for background vocals and choreography is one that
is in a class by itself. Rodney has the unique distinction of being an
all around vocalist. He projects energy that invigorates the crowd.
His captivating, and almost always, spontaneous smile will melt the coldest
hearts. Rodney’s first time with the group was for two years in the
late 80’s. However, since the early 90’s, the “Roc” has been a rock
steady Hi-Lite.
Robert Holland

Robert, a minister and former pastor, is a lead vocalist and has a voice
that is reminiscent of the late Sam Cooke. Doc says that his is the
closest he has heard, and that it is good enough for him. His stint
began in October of 2002, after his departure from the group Bill Pinkney &
The Gospel Drifters. Robert is making his mark within the group and
with audiences everywhere the group has toured.
